Law Day is an event held all across Canada. It was started in 1983 by the Canadian Bar Association with a focus on celebrating the signing of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Law Day is aimed at educating and informing the public about the law, the legal profession, and the justice system. Law Day enhances the public’s understanding of the law, the role of lawyers and judges, and empowers the public at large. A number of activities across the country are held, especially mock trials, courthouse tours, and Citizenship Courts.
